The RL Haines team is very thankful for the tremendous opportunites we've received in this community. To show our appreciation, we're committed to supporting worthwhile organizations, especially groups focused on helping children and those focused on finding cures to serious health issues. Throughout the years, we've given our time, talent and treasure to helping out the following organizations:
The Ronald McDonald House provides a "home-away-from" that offers comfort and care to families of children being treated at local hospitals and medical facilities. There are two Ronald McDonald Houses in Orlando; one is located on campus of Walt Disney Pavilion at Florida Hospital for Children and the other is on the campus of Arnold Palmer Medical Center.
Each year during the holiday season(October – November), Toys for Tots collects new, unwrapped toys to distribute as Christmaas gifts to needy children in our own community. In addition to uniting the community behind a common cause for three months every year, Toys for Tots plays a key role in the lives of children often overlooked at the holiday season.
Edgewood's mission is to rehabilitate at-risk children, ages 6-17 years old, and their families - returning children to their homes and society as healthy, functioning young people and getting them back to the appropriate academic level in school. For an average stay of one to two yars, the youth agree to accept the rules, participate in chores around the Ranch and become involved on athletic activites. The program has remarkably high success rates.
The V Foundation started with the dream of Jim Valvano, the passionate and committed former NC State basketball coach and award-winning broadcaster, as he battled cancer. The Foundation's Scientific Advisory Board, comprised of some of the top physicians and research scientists from prominent universities and cancer centers nationwide, assures that only the cancer research projects with the most potential are funded. Thus, grant recipients funded by the V Foundation have excellent reputations within the scientific community. The V Foundation awards 100 percent of all new direct cash donations and net proceeds of events directly to cancer research and related programs.
The leading nonprofit organization for pregnancy and birth, the March of Dimes is dedicated to improving the health of babies by preventing birth defectsm premature birth and infant mortality. For example, more than 525,000 babies (1 in 8) are born too soon, some so small they can fit in the palm of a hand. Many of these babies must fight just to survive; others must struggle with lifelong health problems. No one knows the causes of nearly half of all premature births, but no one is working harder than the March of Dimes to find out.
